So I assumed turning Sync off would mean I don't get push notifications but since that's not the case I have absolutely no idea why I would need this on. I just wanted to test it out and see how it affected battery life. To be clear I am not looking to turn off notifications or push notifications, I very much need to keep on top of my emails and texts throughout my work day. So what does Sync actually do? Why would I want to have it on if it eats up my battery and data usage? I turned if off yesterday and all this time I've been getting all of my push notifications (email, text, FB, Instagram, Twitter, Phone) with no delays. It also says that with Sync off I will need to sync my accounts manually to collect the most recent information. I was interested in turning off Sync from the quick settings drop down since it says turning it off will positively impact my battery life and reduce data usage but it says I won't receive notifications about updates.
